Well RIP Richard Matheson i wasn't a fan of I am Legend, but The Incredible Shrinking Man was an all time favorite of mine and don't get me started on my terror of planes that all stems from Nightmare at 20'000 feet . You opened my eyes to life on Mars with your adaptation of Ray Bradburys Martian Chronicles that i watched religious with my brother as he explained to me a world of SF that extended beyond Dr Who . I wept at What Dreams May Come after the death of my brother since you wrote such a cynical view of suicide and the people left behind . You made me paranoid about trucks in my rear view mirror with Duel and well ... you made a damm plastic shark scary again just after i got over my fear of water!! Damm you Richard Matheson you have been there all the way through my childhood guiding me towards the massive fan of SF i am today! i'm going to miss you

I know this is what i posted on Facebook but the guy was such a major part of my life i felt it should be here too
See, there's this thing called 'Aggro'. It's a very complicated, very technical roleplaying expression. Loosely translated, it means 'The Priest Dies'.

I watched his adaptation of The Martian Chronicles with my dad, and its still one of the most important pieces of science fiction I've ever watched or read.

Lou Reed.   Grumpy grandfather of rock.
And you look like a star but you're still on the dole

Used to listen to magic 828.  That guy was the soundtrack to my bedtime for a good 5 years.  Rotten shame.

Nelson Mandala

For a brief time he united the world against tyranny and evil.

Rest in Peace.

"I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."

I realise it's been over a year since this topic was used, but RIP Terry Pratchett.

If you don't know who he was, you really should.  If you do know, there's nothing I could say to do his career justice so I'll just leave it at that.  Thousands of others are going to phrase it better than I ever could.

A moment of silence for a legend I think. Just heard through the grapevine that Big Bad Jon passed away either last night or this morning.

Just heard now from the Mrs.  What absolutely horrible news, he was a genuinely lovely guy...

The world just became a less enthusiastic place.  I'm working tonight but I'll pour a small one out for him at least.
