Hoodlums Hovel - Thistlehold
« on: July 10, 2019, 12:48:08 PM »
This thread is here for anyone who wants to add further detail and such to the groups house in Thistle Hold

After the Midnight Cult were dealt with the massive sink hole that has swallowed an entire block in Thistle Hold was filled in and the reconstruction of the block began under the supervision of Building Commissioner Kalio Galeia.

During this time the group purchase a plot in the newly available land and over the course of several months built a house they have named Hoodlums Hovel to act as a base of operations. The house is of typical Ambrian style construction made primarily out of wood and and plain to look at except everything is larger than normal allowing Crackbones and other ogres to use it comfortable. It covers 2 floors with a yard in the back with contains Koriks small smithy and is laid out as below:

Crack-Bones Corner

A small tavern in a huge, tall room, big enough to accommodate even a troll. The chairs are mostly not for humans - either too big (for ogres) or too small (for goblins), but there are enough for the hoodlums at least. The decor is a mix of Ambrian and the southern clans. The centrepiece is a round table, with a fire pit and huge stone fireplace in the centre, with an iron wrought boar spear serving as a spit. He mostly employs goblins but likes to find an ogre bouncer if he's out of town.

Behind the bar, a stack of barrels including one from Ravenia's famous black stout. There's a barrel on the bar with a funnel for all the dregs, and you can chug as much as you can (or dare) for just an orteg. Singers and poets and tellers of tales get cheap beer.

There's a chalkboard with various suggested names for the tavern crossed out. You can have a free drink if you think of a better one:

Crack-Bones Place
Hoodlum Hut
Crack Bones Cracking Cookery,
Our Place
the Long and Short and The Tall

Crack Bones has a big, comfy, custom-made 'throne' by the fire, draped in furs and cushions, beside which is a chess set. Adorning the walls... The remains of wrecked steel shield, painted with heraldry (a broken bones, flanking a sword on a green and red field). A bastard sword and a huge wooden mallet are hung behind the bar.

Crack-Bones' Room

An enormous reinforced bed, a locked strongbox, and piles and pegs of gear clutter the room.

Hand-drawn maps adorn the walls (his work, not great). Shelves hold an ancient mortar and pestle from a Symbaroum ruin. Beside the bed, scribe’s materials, a scholarly book on Davokar (from Ulavan)with a few obscure words underlined in charcoal; a report on the continent by Ralgai Melion, and a home-made chess set with some pieces carved to resemble other characters. Possibly his notebook too, and a baiagorn-bone pipe, if Crack Bones is in town.

Opposite the bed is an old rectangular shield in the pansar style. He talks to it sometimes.

Behind the door is a nail upon which hangs a collection of necklaces, holy sun symbols of Prios. They jangle if you open the door.

The Yard

Head out through the backroom and you find yourself in a decently sized yard, a roughly laid stonework floor to this mostly open aired area, surrounded by a wall and the neighbouring buildings. Within this Yard is a large tarp connected between the side of the Hovel towards the wall opposite, under this is a excellent quality set of Blacksmith gear. A Large heavy Anvil with signs of heavy use, a well made forge as well as several other key tools such as a trough for quenching. When Korik is not out here working away the rest of his tools are kept inside the Hovel and the Tarp protects the rest of the gear.

Outside of the Smithy Korik has set up in the yard he also keeps several store bins next to the wall of the Hovel where he keeps the Hovels supply of Coal, charcoal and firewood.

Koriks' Room

A rather plain and empty room, within is a rather large and spacious bed for him at least, a locked strongbox and a desk and chair. When Korik is in the Hovel his armour will be stacked neatly on the lockbox and at least one weapon will often be lent next to the bed.

The Desk is taken up mostly by the cleaned skull of a Rage Troll and a selection of troll tusks an beast fangs, claimed after the battle with them in Faarah Maroun, next to this skull and spread out across the rest of the desks space is several sheets of parchment and a stick of charcoal, on each sheet are faint sketches of armour including a full face helmet based upon the Trolls skull. Underneath the desk are several ingots of Iron as well as the reclaimed armour from Yeferon Island. is currently covered with parchment this time with sketches of a strange object similar to the music box from the Emperors funeral ship along with various scraps of metal as well as strange mechanical ideas.
