King of Thorns / A Druids Tale
« on: November 10, 2015, 03:44:02 PM »
Through some contacts of mine in the caravanserai I herd of a possible job and since Autumn is not the time to travel further north and  I had already decide to stay around Zobeck for a while a job seemed like a good idea. So I headed to the meeting place a cellar bar called the Green Hussar run by one of the mechanical tin men Zobeck is famous for.

When I arrived there were a couple of people I had previously met on my travels Malus a Wizard from Zobeck, Figaro a knight and Spike the Kobold.

There were a couple of other people in the bar a woman of gypsy decent by the look of her and a gentle man from southern lands. Also in a darkened snug a cloaked man and it was he who we were all due to see. He introduced himself as Dorek, who worked for the council of Zobeck as the new Meister-Inquisitor, had he said he had a job to do but due to some complication to do with the Cloven Nine he was unable to look into personally. So he was looking for some adventures to look into for him but warning that if it got out that we were working for him then we may get embroiled with the Cloven nine. He told us that 3 Children had disappeared during the night and that the Fey had been implicated.

It was at this point it was noted by someone that the room was getting significantly warm, and looking around a bronze masked creature. Suspect that this may have something to do with the cloven nine I started to cast a spell as did Malus. Our would-be patron started to go for his sword but before he could reach it he was pinned by 3 shadow creatures from Múspellsheimr and many others where oozing through the ceiling.

The southerner charged off to face the man in the Mask but was intercepted by two of these creatures. I soon found myself facing one of these creatures, as did everyone else, some two.

With the numbers against us I decided to try and free the Inquisitor my spell enhanced cudgel smashed into the shadow creature destroying its shadowy from leaving just two on the inquisitor. I noticed that while others were striking the creatures they were having a much lesser effect.  I managed to dispatch another of the shadows on the inquisitor before tuning round to Figaro was clambering on the table to escape the two that were facing him and the southerner who was discussing terms with the masked intruder. Suddenly the area became more brightly lit as Malus cast a light spell and I thinking this is not the time for holding back invoked a wave of thunder wish ripped though those still facing me, but not before one hand successfully stuck me. Now though with only one shadow creature on him the inquisitor managed to final draw his sword and instantly all the shadows where bathed in fearie fire. And lashing out managed to dispose of a couple but not before the Gypsy had taken a blow strong enough to knock her unconscious. It must have been Malus who cast the spell that ended the fight igniting the clothing of the masked man who started screaming and dropped to the floor unmoving. The remaining shadows tried to escape but inquisitor was not in the mood to let that happen and they were destroyed before they could bolt.

It was then that I noticed the Kobold at the top of the steps out of the bar shut something about the Stross and the Tin man charged straight out of the bar only to fly back down the steps with a large crossbow bolt though his metal chest.

After the fight Figaro managed to heal the gypsy, and the tin man was repaired. During this time though a noticeable breeze had started inside the bar this had slowly increasing, it turned out that the masked mans mask had fallen off and instead of a face there appeared to a portal to Múspellsheimr and this was starting to suck the air in. The mask was quickly replaced and this stooped the wind, the inquisitor removed his head and said if we still want the job to meet him at Moon’s Grace temple, and after asking Malus to drop the light he disappeared, taking the head with him.

King of Thorns / Ukko of the Trylleri

Ukko of the Trylleri

Ukko hails from a small peaceful isolated community of half a dozen families in a deep valley within the Kingdom of the Bear, this small Trylleri community called Eiagonsted mostly venerate the Bear Maiden and the Vanir particularly Freya and Freyja.
He was one of a pair of twins, his sister Kuu (slightly younger by 10 minutes) have been inseparable from birth. His father is a ranger in the service of the Mesikammen, King of Bears and had little to Ukko upbringing, but his visits brought great delight to Ukko when he was younger. His mother is a Druid and taught Ukko much of her skill with nature and druid lore. So it was no surprise when Ukko chose the life of a druid.
About two years ago Kuu married a Ranger from another village, while Ukko is happy that his sister has found happiness it has left a big hole in his life one which it quickly became obvious could not be filled staying in Eiagonsted. So two months after his sisters marriage Ukko packed his belonging and set off to Bjeornshafen and then further south, something he and his sister planed to do together.
During the last two years Ukko has mostly kept to the wild places very rarely heading to more civilized areas, on his way south he spent some time on the borders of the Old Margreve but didn’t go very deep, even visiting Zobeck were a Wizard called Malus prevented him from losing what few coins he had to local con artist try to pray on the outsider. Since then he has been further south, crossed deserts and explored steamy jungles.
Throughout his travels extensive as they were he never found anything (in his opinion) to rival the beauty of his home land so after two years of travelling he set of back north.
His trip back north took him though the north east of the Margrave and then through it along the great northern road back towards Zobeck it was during this part of his journey he sensed a slight change in the feel of the Margrave, this has piqued his interest so he has decided to stay in this area to determine more of the nature of the Forest, but first a new pair of boots so back towards Zobeck it is.

Ukko is a young man with a slight build and is of slightly below average height (5’7”), with a quite dark complexion for a Northerner he has long blond hair reaching half way down his back and short roughly trimmed beard and blue eyes.
He is clothed in warm clothing made from woven cloth, quite colourful patterns of greens and blues, over the top of this is a plain brown travelling cloak, with a new pair of sturdy boots on his feet. He carries a back pack and a stout walking stick.
